Zaps Technology began with a simple concept..

Zaps Technology was founded on the basic principle of connecting people with technology in all forms. We achieve this by offering helpful advice and discussion about the latest innovations in computers, gaming and wireless phones. We are passionate about staying up to date and assisting others with their concerns and questions with our vast expertise. Our staff members come from a variety of technical backgrounds and are well equipped to give a solution if needed and also provide engaging discussion topics.

A revolution in technology discussion began in October 2007.

Our first venture began on October 6, 2007 with the launch of Zaps Technology Forum. Using the IPBFree platform, we offered a wide range of technology discussion topics to our guests and members. Word spread quickly across the interwebs, and our members and postings grew exponentially throughout 2007, 2008, and 2009. We introduced several concepts throughout these years including:

- ZRewards system - rewards members with points for making posts, replying to topics, and completing other tasks around the forum. Points are called ZDollars and can be redeemed for privileges and merchandise in our Rewards Store.

- Informational Audio Broadcasts for Members and Guests - started on a weekly basis and eventually progressed to a monthly agenda. We answered technology questions and connected with our users regarding site developments and promotions.

- Integrated chat feature.

- Web shows and YouTube broadcasts.


Expansion and Re-Launch Phase.

On July 15, 2010, our host of three years, IPBFree, went offline permanently, taking all of our user data, topics, and content with it. We looked at this as an opportunity to upgrade the user experience with newer software and interfaces. The very next day, Zaps Technology Forum re-launched with the help of Invision Power Services (IPS) with the following features just to name a few:

- Facebook and Twitter integration - including status updates and sign-in functions.

- Streamlined look with simple post organization and new user profiles.

- Improved Personal Message (PM) system and customization tools.

- Testimonial system.

- Redesigned skin and visuals.

- Improved ZRewards system.

- Blog system for members.

- Gallery system for sharing member images.

- Mobile version of our forums for cellular phones.

A database of e-mail addresses for past users was recovered from a backup file that was created around the time of the crash and the majority of former users on the old site received notices to join the new forum. Our URL forums.zapstech.net stayed the same with the switch over; however, our older .IPBfree.com URL was discontinued. All staff members kept their positions on the new site.

We plan to continue to expand and grow our presence on the Internet as the top forum community for tech enthusiasts and newbies alike! We hope to continue to grow our member base as well as introduce new concepts for our members.
